    Thank you for making this video! My girlfriends and I started to get together and play. I am the only guitarist, we're all novices and they want to play this! 😂 I have my work cut out for me learning electric guitar, really appreciated all the breakdown you shared here! Now off to learn all pedals and distortion next. If you have done videos on those, would love the insight, you're a great teacher! Thanks again!

    All good except I believe it's major sevenths, not majors - Cmaj7 > Gsus2 (or 9); Fmaj7 > Csus2 (9); Gmaj7 > Dsus2 (9) ...

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      Hi - Someone mentioned something along this line before; now that it comes up again...the keyboard plays a Maj7 on the traditional I - IV - V. The guitar strums basically a power chord there, then strums through the add9 chords.

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      Well from a brief listen I can tell you the that it's a variation on the song itself using brief combinations of the chords. It starts @ :18 and goes to :45 where it repeats the same 27 second passage - then Amy appears and begins singing. It starts with the same Eb6 as the song but right away in the same measure goes to a B7+9. I would listen to the bass line and compare chord tones from the song. The horns make it tough because they're playing chord licks as well. Another way you could achieve it is to play exerpts of the song for that duration in that fusion beat - then smooth it out for the vocals. ...wish I was there jamming with you guys! Send me a video of the band if you get chance.

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      Hi - OK. So right at the start I name the chords and show you how to play them. The chart is: //: Eb6 / Eb6 /D7+9 / D7 +9 /Eb6 / Eb6 / C7+5 / C7 / Fm9 / Fm9 / Abm7 / Abm7 / Gm7 / Gm7 / C7sus4 / C7 / Fm9 / Fm9 /Bb11 Bb13 / Bb13 / Eb96 Bbm6 / Bbm6 / Eb96 Bbm6 / Bbm6 :// last chord after repeating all that a few times is EbMaj 9.

      Hey AZM - You're band/playing sounds good. There're many styles to the blues, I would say yours being blues/rock. If you listen to different players in those styles you might find something you want to incorporate into your music. Funny you reached me on this particular video. Coincidentally I'll be posting some different style blues tunes in the near future. Great work.

    Sounds great, but I'm confused about where exactly you are putting your fingers when you use finger alterations on chords, especially the G chord. Also when you change your strumming pattern, could you explain?

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      Hi John - The first & second strings are where the alterations appear. The alterations for the C chord are at 1:15, the Dm 1:37, the first G 1:47 and the second G 2:22. The rhythms are mentioned at the same time. Go slow and imitate the sound. ...hope this helps - have fun!

    Hey, Nice Video and It's very helpful. One question, when you play it all together it seems like few strokes are played in the intro between the Dm and G as well as between the G and C. When you slow it down you don't mention that???? Is that right, Can anyone help me?

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      Steve: I know what you're referring to. After you first get down the basic strums with finger alterations (and it sounds like you have), you can then play it with a constant rhythm - ACCENTING the basic strums you've already mastered. I hope this helps - thanks for the input.

    • @steveziemke2995
      @steveziemke2995 7 лет назад

      Thanks! That helps. I'm assuming that the same thing applies to the last little riff with the 5 upstrokes? It sounds better to brush the downstrokes on those too?

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 7 лет назад

      ...and to your follow up question, yes downstrokes on the final upstrokes but very lightly!

    What kind of a G note is this? I thought it was a G7 but that doesn't look right and the other G I know isn't right either. Sorry for such a dumb question.

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 8 лет назад

      Hi Lisa - If you mean the G chord, that's a versatile way to play the G. You're 3rd finger plays the low G note and mutes out the 5th string while the pinky plays the high G note. This frees up your 1st & 2nd fingers to play other things like that line.

  • @lisaeischens2352
    @lisaeischens2352 8 лет назад

    I am super new and am finding the start very difficult to do the 2 down stokes and then the 2 up strokes to get the intro timed right. I'm sure it's like everything else...repetition. Just grateful to have videos like this to help me. I've always loved this song and especially the beautiful guitar. Some day.

    • @gtrpro6
      @gtrpro6 8 лет назад

      Yes, that G turnaround is tricky. Just play the 1st down stroke w/the pinky on 3rd fret/2nd string, then the 2nd down stroke w/pinky up. You then have 5 up strokes: 1st fret/1st string, 3rd fret/1st string, 1st fret/1st string, open 1st string and 3rd fret/2nd string...and on to the C chord. Sounds like you're doing great; keep at it!
